Aesthetic otoplasty

It's a procedure usually done to set prominent ears back closer to the head, to reduce the size of large ears or correct certain structural abnormalities.

Corrective otoplasty

It's a procedure which treats a variety of other ear problems such as: “lop ear” where the tip folds down and forward, “cup ear” a very small ear as well as “shell ear” where the normal folds of the ear are missing. Earlobes stretched by the use of heavy earrings can also be treated and complete reconstruction is also possible.

Indications

The surgery lasts approximately an hour and a half. Local anaesthesia with sedation is requiered or else general anaesthesia. The patient usually returns home on the same day of the procedure. Normal work activity can be resumed after 8 to 10 days and intense physical activity only after six to eight weeks.
